Herbicide
Imazamox is readily absorbed by foliage and translocated throughout the plant. It is primarily an early post-emergence treatment, the optimum timing for applications being to weeds with 1-4 leaves. The product also has some residual activity. The active ingredient is sometimes formulated as the ammonium salt. Weeds die within 6 weeks of treatment. The use of crop-oil concentrates or surfactants is recommended as adjuvants for post-emergence applications.

Toxicology
Oral:Acute oral LD50 for male and female rats >5000 mg/ kg. Percutaneous:Acute percutaneous LD50 for male and female rats >4000 mg/kg. Slight skin irritant; moderate eye irritant (rabbits). Not a skin sensitiser (guinea pigs). Inhalation: LC50 (4 h) for rats >6.3 mg/l.
